Advanced Directives
The ends of life decisions are inevitable. The planning is up to the surrogate decision maker of the individual. Advance directives such as a living will or a durable power of attorney can go along way in protecting the rights of a person if written wishes clearly outline end of life decisions.
The ultimate question that the process of death and dying presents to us is the quality of life that presents to us if we choose to extend life. In the end, it is the consumer who must actively begin the search, evaluate their options for the care required and ultimately decide what course of action to pursue when the inevitable arrives.
