My oldest daughter once confided in me on what makes her handle life in general, especially with all of life’s pleasant surprises.
“If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans”.
While proactive planning in our daily personal and business lives are imperative, we must also consider a post I saw in one of the skilled nursing homes I have recently visited. The words were as follows:
“I have learned that you shouldn’t go through life with a catcher’s mitt on both hands; you need to be able to throw something back.
I’ve learned that whenever you decide something with an open heart, you usually make the right decision. I have learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone. Our brothers and and sisters love a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back. I have learned that people forget what you said, people forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel”
So, my daughter’s comment about life addresses the simple lessons of humility.
